SAFETY-AT-SEA for cruisers - WinLink 2000
Help Us to Help You
WinLink 2000 is a radio communications system primarily for cruisers and other travelers.
It works from your boat or RV.
Use is for FREE by all licensed radio amateurs and anyone with an Internet email address.
You can stay in touch with family and friends via email, file travel plans and position reports, and obtain weather reports.
It serves also to prevent or report emergencies underway or when in harbour.
WinLink 2000 performs well under conditions where voice or Morse code communications fail.
There are about 30 participating radio stations around the world. They are all interconnected via the Internet.
A cruiser, say, in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean could collect a message sent from anywhere in the world.
Australia is the weakest link.
To improve global coverage, one or more WinLink 2000 amateur radio stations should be established in Australia.
You can help with this by any of two easy ways:
- Go to the Internet and visit www.aussiewinlink.org and click just one button to send your expression of support; or
