POLICY DOCUMENT : SAS-APPROVED MEASURERS
- South African Sailing shall maintain a Register of Class Official Measurers in keeping with ISAF Equipment Rules of Sailing C.4.4.
- All SAS-recognised Classes shall appoint Official Class Measurers
- Classes shall be invited to submit nominations of Class Measurers by South African Sailing for confirmation.
- Appointments of Class Measurers shall be for a period of 2 years, after which these may be either extended for a further two-year period or withdrawn in favour of a new Nominee on request of the appropriate Class Association.
- The two-year period will commence on 1st November and expire two years hence on 31st October.
- A Class Association may have up to eight (8) Class Official Measurers in office concurrently. Application for additional Class Official Measurers may be considered on application to the SAS Events Management Committee.
- Class Associations are to keep SAS informed of any change to Class Measurer's details.
- All measurement of craft shall only be recognised when conducted by SAS-approved Official Measurers of the specific Class Association.
- Appointment shall be confirmed by a Class Official Measurer being issued with a numbered Measurement Stamp of a design currently in use after signing the Measurement Stamp Register. (Amended 5th March 2005)
- A deposit of R 100-00 (One Hundred Rand) will be payable by the Class on issue of a Measurement Stamp.
- Replacement Measurement Stamps in cases of loss will be for the account of the Class Association.
- The absence of a Class Official Measurer will be grounds for refusal of National Championship sanction (Amended 5th March 2005)
This document supersedes any and all previous documents regarding the appointment of South African Sailing-recognised Class Measurers.
