Royal Cape Yacht Club in conjunction with Club Mykonos under the sanction and authority of South African Sailing - Western Cape.
- RULES
Save where these are altered by this Notice of Regatta and the Sailing Instructions, races will be governed by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 - 2012 (RRS), SAS/SAMSA Safety Regulations minimum Category C; the Class Rules of participating Classes; The IRC Rules, parts 1,2&3. The Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions and any Amendments thereof. Where relevant, precedence shall be given in the reverse order of the above listing. In the event of contradictions, the interpretations of the Protest Committee shall be final and binding upon all participants
- ADVERTISING
The Regatta will be classified as a Category "C" event in terms of 2009 ISAF Regulations Appendix 20 , which shall only apply while racing.
House Flags, Banners and Sail Covers, which show advertising, shall not be worn when racing.
- ENTRIES
ENTRIES CLOSE: 18H00 FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2010.
LATE ENTRIES CLOSE 12H00 WEDNESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2010.
LATE ENTRY FEE OF R300.00 PER YACHT PLUS R150.00 PER CREW (INCLUDING SKIPPER) WILL APPLY.
Entries must be submitted on the official entry form, accompanied by the entry fee and all relevant forms by 18h00 on Friday 12th February 2010.
Entries may be delivered by hand, faxed or posted to PO Box 772 Cape Town 8000, or sent via the Internet. Only fully paid entries received by the stated time will be considered valid entries.
The entry fee may be paid directly into First National Bank. Account no: 50050045316 Branch no: 201 309, St Georges Mall Cape Town. Please fax proof of payment to RCYC Fax: 021 421 6028.
The entry fee is R200.00 per YACHT, plus R100.00 per person (inclusive of Skipper and VAT).
Late entries are not guaranteed complete Regatta Packs or a Berth at Club Mykonos.
The Safety Declaration must be completed in full and signed by the skipper and his appointed crewmember. (The SA Sailing Special Regulations for Sea Going Yachts booklet is obtainable from South African Sailing).
Entry fees for the Pacer 27 Nationals are inclusive of a boats entry fees for the Mykonos Offshore Regatta. This NOR should be read in conjunction with the Mykonos Offshore Regatta NOR.
- ELIGIBILITY
All Pacer 27 Class yachts. All provisions of the current Pacer 27 Class Rules shall apply.
Competitors shall comply with the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) eligibility requirement in accordance with 2009 ISAF Regulation 19 & RRS 75 which requires that all competitors (helmspersons and all other crew) shall be members in good standing of a Yacht Club affiliated to and in good standing with SA Sailing or their Member National Authority in the case of non-South Africans. The Yacht Club name and membership details shall be stated on the entry form. Current valid South African Sailing Membership Cards shall be presented at Registration.
Owners of competing yachts shall be members in good standing of the Pacer 27 Class association.

Crew weight and numbers as per Class Rules.
- SAILS
As per Class Rules.
- FLEET CATEGORIES
Pacer 27 National Championships: Pacer 27 Class yachts complying with their Class Rules for one-design racing.
- NUMBER OF RACES
A maximum of 8 races will be sailed.
- COURSES
- Thursday 18th February 2010:
Round the buoys in Table Bay. A maximum of four races will be sailed.
- Friday 19th February 2010:
Mykonos Offshore Race. The Pacer 27 fleet will join the Mykonos Offshore Regatta fleet and sail an offshore race from Table Bay to Club Mykonos, Langebaan
- Saturday 20th February 2010:
Bay Race: A pursuit race off Club Mykonos (please refer to the Sailing Instructions). All boats of the Pacer 27 class will start at the same time.
- Sunday 21st February 2010:
Round the buoys in Langebaan Lagoon. A maximum of three races will be sailed.

The scheduled time for the warning signal for the first race is 10h30.
- Friday 19th
The Pacer 27 Class: Mykonos Offshore Race:
Table Bay 09h00, Friday, 19th February 2010
The start will be between the Royal Cape Yacht Club Bridge Hut and No.10 Harbour buoy (starboard). Boats will be required to pass through a gate laid in close proximity to Dassen Island, and finish off the Club Mykonos breakwater.
Any change will be advised on the Notice Board by 07h30 on Friday, 19th February 2010 and on VHF Channel 6 from the Bridge. (These changes may include a short beat to the Paarden Island Mark/ or Harbour Mark).
- Saturday 20th
Bay Race: Club Mykonos, Saturday, 20th February 2010.
- a Pursuit Race which will start not before 10h30 (please refer to the Sailing Instructions). The Pacer 27 Class will start together, not before 10h30. Any amendments to start times will be posted on the Regatta notice board at Club Mykonos.
- Sunday 21st
The scheduled time for the warning signal for the first race is 10h00.
The warning signal for the final race shall not be made later than 14h00.
- NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP REQUIREMENTS
In order to qualify as a National Class Championship the following criteria shall be satisfied:
- A minimum of five valid entries shall be received no later than the closing time for entries.
- At least five finishers in any two races of the series.
- At least four races completed.
- HANDICAP SYSTEM, RACE RESULTS & SCORING
Pacer 27 National Championships:
Scoring for the series shall be in accordance with the RRS Appendix A4 Low Point Scoring System. All races shall carry equal points. Four races are required to be completed to constitute a series. When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. When 5 races or more have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score ( one discard ).
- REGISTRATION
Pacer 27 Class yachts are to register for their National Championships by submitting their Regatta Declaration form at the Race Office at RCYC by no later than 09h00 on Thursday 18th February 2010.
- SAFETY & SCRUTINY
It shall be the responsibility of the skipper and an appointed member of his crew to inspect his boat for compliance with the Safety regulations of this Regatta, the rules and regulations of the IRC Rules,
the Safety Declaration form must be signed and handed to the Race Secretary by not later than Thursday, 18th February 2010.
A random selection of boats will be identified for safety inspections to take place after Registration on Thursday 18th February and also at Club Mykonos after all the races. The owner and appointed crewmember should be available to accompany the scrutineer to the boat and to assist with the inspection.

- LIABILITY
Competitors sail entirely at their own risk. The onus on whether to start a race and to continue a race lies entirely with the skipper of the competing yacht. None of the organizations or persons concerned in the running of the Regatta accepts any liability for damage or injury, material or personal, suffered during the races or at any other time however arising.
Each participating boat is encouraged to carry adequate valid Third Party Liability Insurance to cover any liability arising during the event.
- SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing instructions for the Pacer 27 National Championships will be posted on this website and will be forwarded to all entrants prior to 18h00 on Wednesday 17th February 2010.
- TROPHIES & PRIZES
- Harvey's Composites Pacer 27 Floating Shield.
- SAS gold medals for the crew of the winning Pacer 27.
Other prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee based on the entries received.
The Prize Giving will be held on the Terrace at Club Mykonos, Sunday 21st February 2010 at approximately 16h00.
- ERRORS AND OMISSIONS
On good cause, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend any of the paragraphs of this Notice of Race, subject to adequate notice being given.
