Poudre D'or - contribution from Trevor Wilkins:

Buddy Hulscher (well known to many at RCYC) was one of the group of the first fifteen Muiras that were owner built. I helped him in the building of Poudre D'or and together we sailed every possible race. In about 1976 Poudre D'or was sailed to Vancouver where it has been sailing out of West Vancouver yacht Club ever since. Buddy and Chantal still compete in almost every race and the walls of their study are loaded with trophies.

The Muira owners will be interested in this set of images as this is the first major problem with this sturdy yacht.
The first suit of sails was made by Chong Lee and still today the No 3 Chong Lee is used in heavy weather!
The Original mast was a Sparlight which came crashing down off Aghulus and was replaced with one of the first Bellamy Masts which is still going strong.

Liz and I Sailed Poudre D'or from west Vancouver Yacht Club up North - Tee Shirt Weather, 15 knots of gentle stuff and flat seas..what a pleasure! Very little had changed on the yacht!

Oct 8, 2009 - Message from Buddy & Chantal:
On Sept. 25th/26th we took part in the six-race Howe Sound Regatta in strong winds and very choppy seas. It was fabulous sailing but we suffered hull damage and had to have the boat hauled out for repairs. Thought you'd be interested to see the photos. It is the first time the mast has been taken out and the keel removed. Dramatic stuff ! (We came second in the regatta even though we were just three crewing the boat)
