I will be racing across on RatCATcher (40ft Island Spirit from GBYC) with friends. I'll offer very competitive rates and consider myself very responsible and capable of returning any boat and crew to Cape Town/SA safely. June 2010
I am a 26 year old male from Vancouver, Canada. I have roughly 5,000NM offshore sailing experience, as well as about 2,000NM coastal experience. I have experience sailing in winds up to force 10, in one case force 8 while trying to make landfall with a damaged engine in the dark at Fastnet Rock. I am an objective-oriented individual who enjoys the realities of offshore sailing and the sharing of responsibilities. I have the patience, discipline, & seamanship to make sure that the boat is safely maintained and operated. I have experience in general boating maintenance, although I do not have in-depth electrician or mechanical knowledge. I am a British & Canadian national and I speak English & French (fluently) and have strong working knowledge of Spanish & German. I picked up enough Portuguese during 6 weeks spent in the Azores that to communicate on a minimal level. June 2010

 I have recently completed a 4 week course with Professional Yacht Trainers in Durban. The course content includes, Practical and theoretical introduction to sailing, STCW '95, Yacht Rating Course, Small Power Boat & RIB Master Course
I have been a junior volunteer for N.S.R.I. for 2 years. I am keen to do the Yacht Master course next, but need to gain experience & sea miles and am therefore looking for a deck hand position. June 2010 |

Our yacht has over-wintered in the new Alanya Marina in South East Turkey and we highly recommend the marina to cruisers in the eastern Med. The facilities are all brand new, the staff are competent & friendly and the rates favourable. Many thanks for putting me on the RCYC crew wanted board earlier on this year. I was lucky and got the trip of a lifetime from which I have just returned! it was Cape Town to Brazil via Luderitz and St. Helena and I just wanted to let you know I am very grateful.
